Middle Class Populist

While I am proud to be a Liberal here is one point where I part with my PC Liberal friends. I believe that the Strategic Defense Initiative is a worthy program and goal for our national defense! To believe otherwise is literally “MAD”! During the cold war our national defense deterrence was based on the doctrine of “Mutually Assured Destruction”, or “MAD” for short. Our planet and the human race’s future depended on both sides not loosing their cool and worst “misinterpreting” the other side’s motivation or intention.

MAD worked if our enemies did not have their factual judgment clouded by ideology. For example:

• If the USSR was an Islamic Fundamentalist state and they believed that dying was the way to paradise then MAD would not work.
  
• If our opponents believed they could withstand a nuclear attack and could come out the stronger in a post WWIII era then the deterrence of MAD would be undermined. Something we have to consider when facing the Chinese with over one billion people. They have a history of losing millions for the sake of their regime as during the Maoist forced collectivization of farms.

There are those in this nation, who like the religious right with their “collective masochism” concerning the so called “Fall of Man” in the Garden of Eden and their religious doctrine of “Apple Theodicy”, argues that man is deserving of punishment. Today’s advocates of “Original Masochism” are not religious but secular. They misuse ecology to argue that man deserves to be made extinct and punished. No I am not arguing that global warming is not real because it is! But these PC liberals take extra delight in wallowing in cultural masochism!

As one commentator on the “McLaughlin Report” phased it concerning ecology, “Jimmy Carter’s idea was to wear a sweeter in the winter and to turn off the Christmas Tree lights”! Americans will never accept a lowering of our standard of living! I am a Liberal and yet I am for the “Strategic Defense Initiative”. Why is it that liberals can toy with the idea of huge “solar collectors” in space that can precision beam energy back to earth without radiating and destroying our cities in an accident, yet cannot believe we can shoot down a missile? Apparently the Chinese have already tested anti-satellite weapons against us as mentioned before in this blog!

Our nation preserves freedom because our military has a deterrent capability against the unsavory element of our planet! I disagree with the Neo-Cons in that I believe we are wasting our deterrent in Iraq when we should be winning in Afghanistan! Freedom does not come freely! Would we want our planet to be subject to the threat of extinction from nuclear war? If we are to prevent this while the Chinese continue their build up we must develop the SDI or “Star Wars” technology and insure that CUT AND RUN CORPORATIONS to not sell out America by selling our technology abroad!

Yes I am a Democrat and a progressive liberal. But I am glad to see that our military has successfully tested another instance of Star Wars technology. This time it was from the ocean against two incoming missiles and both incoming missiles from outer space were destroyed! Yes I am against the War in Iraq. But I am for taking aggressive strategic action to defend our nation and our way of life against the bad guys out there! This may come as an Inconvenient Truth to some of my fellow Democrats, but there are people out there who do not care what kind of karma they are sowing!

Life has more than two choices! One can be against the “War in Iraq” yet still support aggressive strategic action to defend our nation and our way of life! Oh dear now I did it! Am I part of the Military Industrial Complex? Hell no they don’t even exist much anymore! Those companies have turned into CUT AND RUN CAPITALISTS. They are now transforming themselves from “American” corporations into “Multinationals”. They ship our jobs and technology overseas, frequently even to the enemies of freedom for the buck! It seems no one is minding the store anymore!

Politically Correct liberal Democrats are to busy apologizing to the enemies of America! Republicans see things differently! Republicans see the enemies of freedom and our way of life not as enemies but as “Investment Opportunities”! These Cut and Run Capitalists don’t care about “Port Security” but rather “Portfolio Security”! Halliburton’s CEO now has his headquarters in Dubai.

You remember Dubai! That’s the nice country our CIA asked to stop a shipment of centrifuges that was routed through their port to Pakistan! But Dubai would not comply. Now Pakistan has nukes and is about to meltdown with Al Qaeda at home in Pakistan’s mountains. So how did the Republicans react to Dubai? Why they wanted to let these nice folks in Dubai have control of our major ports! Thank God the Silent Majority of this nation said “NO” to Bush and his fellow travelers!

Well at least Bush pushed for the testing of an Anti-Missile Defense system. Problem is they want to place it in Eastern Europe where it gives political ammunition to Putin. Most Europeans don’t want this system! Even worse, look at the message Bush sends to Iran! We say we will not tolerate Iran having nukes but then that is the whole presupposition to building this system in Eastern Europe, that Iran will have nukes!

What is this masochism that both political parties seem to exhibit? Politically Correct Democrats argue against a missile defense system saying it is too difficult. Yet these same folks were arguing some years back for the creation of massive orbiting solar collectors that would beam a concentrated beam of energy back to receiving stations on earth. God help us if the angle was thrown off by just a fraction! Strange you can shoot a Star Wars type concentrated beam down to earth but not up at an incoming missile! Are we to return to the days of M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction) when China rises to a global nuclear power? China could even be an enemy if she turns democratic as her population is so large and their middle class is growing. They will also want access to Middle Eastern oil. Isn’t it time we develop, on a massive scale, some sort of alternative energy? We must place “National Security” over “Corporate Security”. We need to see things beyond the “liberal - conservative” dichotomy!

In this 21^st Centruy, rugged individualism is being threatened by the Neo-Collectivists of the Corporations. They place their corporate profits over the national interests even divesting themselves of their American identity. Guess who will discover their “American” identity when there are profits to be made in the build up against China? The very peril that they helped to create they will seek to profit from! The “Programmer’s Guild” has sent an alert to it’s members concerning an amendment to a Border Security Bill that would raise the number of H1-B Visa holders. Thus destroying further Middle Class jobs and dreams in the interest of the Cut And Run Capitalists! What jobs these Collectivists cannot ship overseas they will undermine at home. Thus even the recent success of our anti-missile system is undermined by the loss of our technological advantage!

The time has come for America’s Silent Majority - our great Middle Class, to stand up and take our nation back from these effete snobs of the corporate class! These same effete snobs who want to reduce our Middle Class freedoms to serdom in the Neo-Collectivist dream of Multi-National Corporationism! They scream at Universal Health Care and “Fair Trade” they prefer we surrender our Middle Class dreams to sing their new Multi-National Corporate Internationale! I say no! God Bless America!

Well some here at home think a Missile Shield is an impossibility, apparently Russian President Putin is concerned about facing one at his border! The Russian President has proposed that we relocate it to Azerbaijan and our government has stated this is an interesting idea! While I have been very critical of Bush in this blog I do like his idea of a nuclear shield. Yes I am critical of the Iraqi War but this blog is not a simple knee jerk left wing blog. I am a Lou Dobbs Non-PC Democrat. The fact that Bush would even consider such a shield in Europe raises some very interesting possibilities! I even wonder if the proposal to place it in Europe was not serious but a ploy to make the Russians support us or at least not oppose America using a pre-emptive strike against Iranian nuclear installations! But that might be imputing George “Katrina” Bush with far too much competence and geo-political savvy!

An opposing issue with the missile shield is that it presupposes that Iran will be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. The problem with Iran is not just that these weapons could be used by her military locally, but as Giuliani has stated, they could be then delivered to our cities by terrorists. That is the greater danger to America! There is no Star Wars response to that.

I applaud Rudy Giuliani for stating this. The problem with Giuliani is that because he and his fellow Republicans have kept us in Iraq long after we should have left, we are no longer a deterrent to Iran.

Mr. Giuliani does not realize that rogue regimes do not fear being overthrown and transformed into democracies! They simply fear being overthrown! If the latter had been our strategy with Iraq then Iran would fear us! But with our “overburdened definition of success” it will be decades before we can move beyond Iraq since the neo-cons want us to be involved in this social engineering experiment forever! Hence we are not perceived as a threat by Iran.

If Giuliani and McCain are serious about defending our Homeland and they believe in their scenario of a terrorist nuclear strike then forget Iraq and start working on Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan, Waziristan and Pakistan! Isn’t that enough to worry about!

Maybe the Republican candidates don’t understand that after six year of control of the House of Representatives, the Senate and the Presidency our borders are still wide open as are America’s ports. Iraqi terrorists, if they did get a nuclear device, would tag up covertly with the United Arab Emirates Company that Bush wanted to run our ports. But no matter we are turning over our highways to Mexican truckers so the bomb will come from Al Qaeda via “MEX-EXPRESS”!

I applaud Bush on his Missile Defense Shield and his doctrine of “Pre-Emptive Deterrence” against a nuclear terrorist attack. The problem is that he has done a “Katrina” on his few good ideas by his commitment to the social engineering experiment in Iraq. The social engineering experiment will never work in Iraq on the cheap as Bush has committed to this project. The American Middle Class does not want to pay the price to have this social engineering experiment succeed in Iraq. While Bush and his fellow travelers laud creationism over evolution and support the Christian right with it’s nutty ideas to encourage Israel to occupy the whole of Palestine so as to bring about the second coming, let us remember that western democracy was brought about after long religious wars and the rise of Secular Humanism. By the way I am not an atheist but an Episcopalian!

Lets explore a nuclear shield and a Walled Border! God Bless America!

I would consider myself a liberal democrat but this blog will be NON-PC. While Bush and his fellow travelers continue to waste American lives and our economic resources China has successfully shot down one of its own satellites. We Americans had better take this very seriously.

We are financing the rise of the Chinese military industrial complex by the behavior of our very own “CUT AND RUN CAPITALISTS” who have as much loyalty to our nation as a prostitute after a cheap $15.00 trick! While liberals whine and wail how America is the cause of the entire world’s problems and never cease to apologize and make excuses for the enemies of freedom, the Republicans see it differently! They instead see the enemies of America as an “investment opportunity”!

With the ever increasing flow of investment and jobs from our nation into China by these CUT AND RUN CAPITALISTS and their fellow travelers in the Republican Party, our national security grows weaker!

What is the modus operandi of how we are aiding the Chinese Military Industrial Complex?

• By accelerating the growth of the Chinese economy we free more Chinese funds for investment in her military industrial complex.
• The Free Trade Iscariots in our government also turn the other way to the massive scientific, military and industrial espionage that the Chinese have been conducting.

Our military is highly dependant on satellite technology as the Iraq war demonstrated. Unlike the Russians and Chinese we do not want to send massive amounts of our troops to die. In order to prevent this we must preserve, protect and defend our technological advantage! “Shock and awe” is a valuable American asset as it preserves our troop’s lives! When China starts to threaten us guess who will divest themselves of their “Global Corporation Identity” and rediscover their roots? After helping to create the monster overseas these same CUT AND RUN CAPITALISTS will now re-invent themselves as Americans to invest in profit making in the American industrial complex. America’s Middle Class will also be presented an “investment opportunity”. We will have the ability to invest our sons and daughters in wars that could have been avoided.

Let’s not forget on the other side of the political spectrum the PC liberal crowd! These same hypocrites will whine and wail that to defend our nation is a “Star Wars” illusion yet turn their heads away from China’s two recent tests. First she flashed her lasers on our satellites showing she could blind them. Next China actually shot down one of her own orbiting satellites! Amazing isn’t it that these very same PC Liberals could talk about alternative forms of energy where huge “Solar Sail Collecters” could be made to orbit our planet. Then beam a concentrated energy beam back to earth that would power our electrical grid. No doubt the beam would not be diverted by just a fraction of a degree which could sizzle a city! Yet if we were to shot a smaller beam the opposite direction to stop an enemy nuclear missile then these 21st Century Masochists of the left would say that is a “Star Wars” illusion! - Hypocrites!

The time has come for America’s middle class (and those who aspire to be) to assert ourselves and take our country back from these Cut And Run Capitalists on the right and the politically correct 21st century masochists from the left!

I am a NON-PC liberal Democrat. I believe we should search for the truth no matter what side of the spectrum it takes us! I first learned that China was testing lasers against our spy and communication satellites from watching the Lou Dobbs Show on CNN. This poses some “Inconvenient Truths” for both sides of the political spectrum:

• Why is it that we liberals in the USA call taking pot shots at space objects “Star Wars” and pooh pooh it’s military value while China forges ahead?
• Why do Republicans act like ostrich’s with their heads in their portfolio’s rather than looking up outside of their own selfish class interest (oh did I say a bad word here) to see how this licentious orgy of investment in China could be hurting our nation?
• Why do both sides look the other way to the blatant intellectual theft that is making it easier on China to spend more for it’s Military R+D since some military and industrial project costs are eased due to intellectual property theft.
• Hey gang remember the PC idea of some years back to have giant orbiting solar collectors collecting solar energy in space then beaming it in a concentrated beam back to a receiving station on earth. Gee I guess we don’t have to worry about the beam going off a degree or two and scorching a city! I am not against that technology but I just wonder why they could then argue against the S.D.I.

Returning to China again. Their theft of intellectual property does not necessarily mean that all their laser technology was stolen from us. But if China chooses to pursue projects x, y and z and part of x and y have their costs offset by stolen technology then she is able to devote more resources to “z”.

While the tests so far have not been full scale laser firings to destroy satellites nor destroy incoming missiles, it does prove they are on track to develop such weapons. Furthermore even the ability to destroy our communication and spy satellites would hurt our conventional warfare efforts. Also the ability to destroy our spy satellites would aid them if they wanted to launch a preemptive conventional and/or nuclear strike.

Meanwhile the PC liberal crowd keeps drinking its Latte while extolling how we Americans are the cause of all the world’s problems while the Republican$ chuckle with their heads in their stock portfolios enjoying their “Cut and Run” strategy from investing in the nation that gave them sustenance, substance and profits.

In this era of licentious permissiveness when American Corporations cut and run from their American Identity to become “Multinational Corporations” we see the results that they and their fellow travelers are having on the employment situation with America’s middle class! Not to mention how they destroyed the American dream for computer students by importing low paid h1b guest worker programmers from India.

Oh yes when China rises to be a threat to our nation guess who will be leading the fight for building our military industrial complex? They will drop their chop sticks and their overseas corporate offices to reinvest in a new cold war of their own subsidizing. All the while the PC Liberal crowd will be chanting their mantra of “evil wicked guilty America”!

These tests have struck absolute horror into the minds of some liberals. Imagine our nation, the wicked evil gas guzzling USA which as we all know is the source of all the worlds problems, actually being able to defend itself against a nuclear attack! Oh the horror some on the left must be experiencing. Yes I am a liberal democrat but I am pleased as pink (oops) that these tests for our country were successful. Alas I suffer from “bourgeoisie middle class hang ups”! I do not hate America as some of my fellow liberals. I do not want to trust my life, the life of my nation and for that matter the future of our planet to the good will of mad dictators. Nor to the crazy doctrine of M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction)!

We live in a world where dictatorships would have no problem draining us in contests that involved sustainability of high casualties. We lost over 26,000 troops in Iraq. But to a dictatorship that means nothing. We should never have stayed in Iraq after winning the war unless we believed it was in our national interest. If we did believe it was in our interest then far more troops would be needed.

Our nation must fight its battles selectively and remain safe behind a shield. We must be able to use conventional “shock and awe” without fear that China or Russia could come to the aid of a rogue state and “up the ante” by challenging us with nuclear weapons. While I criticize Bush on many of his policies I congratulate him on pushing forward on missile defense! The test in Arizona was a success.

Now that we have demonstrated our ability to increasingly protect our borders from high tech missiles:

• What about protecting our borders from the ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION of three million people per year?
• What about protecting our borders from the outsourcing of American jobs.
• How about protecting our borders from the CUT AND RUN American corporations that change their identity to Multi-national companies and have no loyalty to the nation that gave them existence, succor, protection and profits?
• Mr. President how about protecting our borders from the hemorrhaging of our advanced military technology to nations that could take our expensive R & D then use it against us. The very technology that we just successfully tested!

It is time for the SILENT MAJORITY, America’s great middle class and those who aspire to be, to rise up and be counted!

In this blog I have been attacking the dogmas on both sides of the political spectrum. Years ago I was a college student way back when we had the original Earth Day. For those of you who are to young to remember, that is when we on the left received our Ph D’s in environmental science after listening to a one hour lecture. Then we would go forth to “educate” the poor ignorant masses. Ever striving to release them from their “bourgeoisie middle class hang ups”! Standard reading then was the Club of Rome Report and a book called “The Population Bomb”. The gist of both was that we are doomed. In ten years we would only be able to extract half the gas and oil we have now. Nations were placed on a list. Certain nations alas were beyond redemption, according to this view, and would be ravaged by famine. The rest “might” be helped. Well its over three decades latter and we have not seen the dire doomsday predictions of this crowd.

Concurrently in almost the same time period the nice folks on the Christian Right were predicting the end of the world to take place not far in the future. They predicted around the end of the 1970’s when Christ would return. Strange that BOTH the secular atheists and religious right picked the same time. Hey but we are still here gang! I realized that BOTH groups seemed to absolutely love the idea of the destruction of humanity!

Both groups want us to wallow in self hate and powerlessness! Well gang it is over thirty years latter and we are still here! The issue folks is more then it seems. We live in an age of angst. People want CONNECTION to a Higher Power be it God or Nature. Don’t get me wrong I want the same. But not when the price is either self hate of ourselves as humans via the Christian Right or self hate of America and enjoying a middle class lifestyle as the eco-liberals would have us do.

OH so you don’t feel guilty that America’s middle class is only “x” percent of the population but uses “y” percent of the world’s resources?

Ah actually no I don’t feel guilty. Am I supposed to? I feel bad for folks in the third world. I think it is time we find alternative fuels then raise their level to our level. But I am not going to live my life like the monk in the Da Vinci Code who whips himself or has a sharpened steel chain around his leg to inflict masochistic pain. Working in a hot office with an unneeded suite and tie without air conditioning is not my idea of having “communion” with the Mother Goddess! I will take my “Ester-C” Vitamin capsule and soy tufu when I get home after work to accomplish that!

Well its all Christianity and Judaism’s fault. The Bible says to have “Dominion” over the earth. If Christianity would stop raping the earth life would be better!

ANSWER: Get a life! Ants have “dominion” over their spot on the earth. They “operate” on it. Actually it wasn’t until the birth of secular science that religion pulled that passage out from obscurity to sanction making life better. Beacon wrote a thesis called “The New Order”.

But religious folks thought it was working against God’s will to intervene in nature by fighting famine or latter in putting a lighting rod on your house etc. Even today there are some in the religious sector who do NOT want us to have dominion. Just look at the stem cell research controversy! Many religious people would prefer humans to live in suffering rather than to take “dominion” over nature! Then there is the eco-liberal side! Before we are to enjoy our life should we check in with every third world country and see how everyone else is doing then and only then buy a new car or house? I suppose these eco-liberals would side with Zeus against Prometheus in the ancient Greek legends for starting the usage of fire!

There is a “masochistic” element at work with both the Christian Right and the Eco-left. Sure we have to lower our use of carbon fuels. But conservation is kind of stupid. In my locality we have recycling of garbage. I have to put cans and glass in separate containers. Note I have to use separate PLASTIC colored bags for these. The cans and bottles have to be WASHED using precious water and even Hot Water to clean the items. Imagine state wide how much EXTRA water is being used and gas to heat the water in order that these cans are clean.

These eco-liberals are the same folks who will argue for the development of exotic alternative fuels such as “Orbiting Solar Collectors”. These collectors would be miles wide. Then they would beam the collected energy down to a collection point on earth in a focused laser beam. The calibration required to do this would be great. The eco-liberals argue it can be done! But if we want to use almost the same calibration techniques to shoot down a nuclear missile, as in the Strategic Defense Initiative, then these same folks will say it cannot be done! They just love to HATE AMERICA. Actually I would be for both the Orbiting Solar Collectors and Star Wars.

But don’t worry what ever alternative fuel methodology that we finally get through Congress against the in fighting of the oil companies, the eco-liberals will then sabotage once it seems to finally become a reality. Why? Because they hate America. They believe like the religious right that life is for feeling guilty. They believe in an atheist version of “Original Sin”! Only instead of being guilty for being the descendants of Adam and Eve it is because we are middle class Americans. MEA KULPA!

Lets really get to work and find some alternative energy sources. We are going to have to. India and China have larger middle classes then the entire population of the USA. As they work toward the better life they will be competing with us for the same finite resources. We need ALTERNATIVE FUELS. Yes some conservation is fine. But not at the expense of bringing down the quality of human life. Time to create solutions not guilt trips. But “guilt trips” are the only means that both the Christian Right and the Secular Eco-liberals know to find “meaning” in this age of angst. Lets get our heads straight and together and solve this problem not only for us but the whole earth!
