I get a real laugh when I hear folks talk about the need for education in this new high tech era! On the front page of the Wall Street Journal on March 28, 2007 it lists the job categories that will be effected by the next wave of off shoring. Computer jobs have been outsourced to Asia for several years now. To lower the salaries of those computer positions that remain the barons of the corporate fiefdoms import H1-B visa workers. Then they preach Ann Rand and her book “Atlas Shrugged“! Thank God for news anchors like Lou Dobbs who constantly brings this issue to the public attention!
So you don’t like computer folks and are laughing at their plight? According to the front page article (quoted above) in the Wall Street Journal, off shoring is going to expand to
- Actuaries,
- Economists
- Graphic Art Designers
- Accountants and
- Financial analysts among others!
All these jobs can now be sent to India, Pakistan and other off shore locations! So when you hear some idiot talk about the need for education in this technological era you might want to ask for what career? By the way if you are blue collar forget about the trucking industry which will soon have Mexican trucks crossing our borders!
We have been indoctrinated into the culture of the corporate collectivists for too long! When a college grad goes to a job interview he is supposed to read the shareholders report so he/she can tell the interviewer how impressed he is about the company. He is not being evaluated on his intelligence but on a more important variable! The variable being measured is not if he can be a team player! That is understandable and a desirable trait to have as one’s work ethic in the corporate world. But what he is really being graded on is his ability to identify with the needs of the COLLECTIVE over the needs of his own individuality.
Case in point. Many of us have read Napoleon Hill’s book “Think and Grow Rich”. One of the thesis of this book was that loyalty gets rewarded! Yet the modern day company is no more than a soviet style COLLECTIVE serving the needs of senior management and the shareholder. The hell with the individual though some may pay lip service to individualism! Just look at what is happening at Circuit City where top notch “producers”, those who bring in the sales for the company, are being fired. They may come back as serfs if they accept a lower wage! This is the loyalty that the modern day “COLLECTIVE” shows the individual! What are older workers to do when they loose their health care benefits. We need UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE NOW! We don’t necessarily need socialized medicine but a new “Social Contract”. Society would provide “vouchers” to all citizens that they could then take to the health insurance provider of their choice! I am sick of the hypocrisy of the conservatives who have no problem with bridging the boundary of Church and State with a parochial school tuition voucher system but suddenly forget the word “voucher” when it comes to health care!
We live in an era of “licentious permissiveness” where the barons of corporate America are free to subjugate the valid needs of the individual to the service of corporation in this new Corporate Collectivist Era. The so called proponents of the free market have no problem with PROTECTIONISM that supports their class interest against the aspirations of the silent majority and the attainment of the middle class dream in America! Our jobs, our technology, our capital that was produced by the permission of our society and our futures are all being shipped abroad while poverty in the form of H1-B Visa guest workers are imported to undermine the dreams of the American Middle Class!
These parasite effete snobs don’t even want to call themselves Americans anymore! These cut and run capitalists now go by their new found identity of “Multinational Corporations”! The time has come for the Silent Majority – America’s backbone, the great Middle Class (and those who aspire to be) to rise up and take our country back from these effete snobs of the corporate world and their fellow travelers in the Republican Party!
