How’s that Drill Baby Drill Thingy working out for you Sarah Palin? For years the Republicans have preached the Gospel of Deregulation now look at the results! Now comes news that the chemicals used to fight the oil slick can be toxic themselves! If we had more regulation we might not be in this situation!
The bleeding hearts of the right talk about “Freedom”. What about the small businessman who just got over hurricane Katrina and has invested in a new fishing boat! What about his “FREEDOM” to earn a meager living while our social betters, you know the “producers”, rake in the billions!
When hurricane Katrina struck we had right wing bigot preachers talking about New Orleans paying the wages of sin for allowing a Gay pride parade in their city!
Might I suggest this oily slick of death is the judgment of a righteous God on those who voted either Republican or for Blue Dog Democrats! (Hallelujah)
Well before I get carried away here let’s return to these self righteous right wing so-called defenders of “FREEDOM”! Have you ever noticed the word “Freedom” is a pivotal word in the conservative Republican lexicon! The problem is that it does not translate into “freedom” for America’s middle class! From Wall Street to the Oil Rig that went under the story is the same.
“Licentious Permissiveness!” These “corporate persons” are allowed to consider the economic wealth and natural resources of this nation as tools in a bid to make them ever more unearned profits! To use the Republican lingo, we need LAW AND ORDER in this era of permissiveness! We need more Government regulation of the oil industry and of Wall Street! When the power of government in a “Democracy” is reduced it does not generally result in an increase of Individual Freedom! Without a “fair referee” there is no individual freedom! The condition creates a vacuum for the power of the bully! Enter the “Corporate Person” and “Individual Freedom” always suffers at the expense of the licentious permissiveness of the effete snobs of privilege! Just look at how our jobs (white and blue collar) are being off shored, look at Wall Street or go take a dunking with Sarah Palin in the Gulf!
Where is our President? Why isn’t he leading the “Rhetorical Exorcism” of Sarah Palin and her fellow travellers from our body politic? I can understand if President Obama wants to play “Presidental” but this crises at our Gulf shores and on Wall Street presents Democrats and liberals with a “teaching moment”. If the President does not want to play the attack dog then he should unleash Vice President Biden as his attack dog. That is how Nixon used his Vice President! We need to drum this message in the America’s psyche!
When Republicans talk about “Freedom” they don’t mean our freedom but the freedom of our social betters to engage in “wealth redistribution” away from the middle class! Since we face an energy crises then maybe the time has come to nationalize the oil industry! COUNTRY FIRST!
We need more regulations and regulations that are in the interest of America not the lobbyists! We must not allow the “decision making processes” of our society to become corrupted by “Corporate Persons”! Just think every time you buy gas part of the price you pay is to protect the oil companies from having to use the more rigorous safety standards that are practiced in “socialist Norway”. Part of the price we pay at the pump is to pay for lobbyists to work against our interest in the interest of our social betters! This is “Taxation Without Representation”! This is what the Republicans call “FREEDOM!”
Where are the Tea Party folks protesting taxation without representation!
As the white and blue collar jobs flow from our nation the slickly slime flows to our shores! Yes indeed the wages of deregulation!
