Yemen: Does Al Qaeda Want Us To Attack?

I know we cannot stand by while terrorists plot attacks against America! But I hope we use our advanced technology, that is as long as our corporations don’t sell it to the enemies of America! Dick Cheney and his fellow travelers in the Republican Party have stopped us from winning the war on terror due to their diversion, the vast Republican Social Engineering Experiment in Iraq! Instead we should have cut off the leadership of Al Qaeda before they escaped to Pakistan! Now they have had time to regroup. I wish the Democrats would remind Americans about the failure of Bush and Cheney on a daily basis. Now we have inherited one more problem from the Bush Administration.

In fact if I were into conspiracy theories (which I am not) I would say they choose someone who is incompetent so he would get caught and make the tracing back to Yemen much stronger! Regardless I would like to suggest that Al Qaeda had two additional objectives in sending this Nigerian bomber against America!

First if we do get into a heavy ground war in Yemen that would act as an excellent recruiting tool for Al Qaeda in that Yemen is physically in the Muslim Holy Land. That is to say the Arabian peninsular! Remember Saudi Arabia is a modern invention.

Second by shifting focus away from Pakistan where Al Qaeda could have nuclear connections with renagade Pakistani scientists and their next door Afghan, financially lucrative poppy fields, Al Qaeda gains more time for their center base and a major recruiting tool when we attack the land of their prophet! See map above.

There is one more final advantage Al Qaeda receives from this attempt that succeeds because it was botched and if it succeeded they would not have this final alas comical advantage!

What are we going to have now in our airports? Crotch pat downs! I am sure they must be laughing at us. Thanks to Dick Cheney and Bush, Al Qaeda lived to perform this attack! However we cannot take our eyes off Pakistan nor leave Yemen to become a new base of operations. The time has come to use the very “shock and awe” technology that the prior administration lauded but put aside for nation building and instead use this technology against Al Qaeda. I disagree with the writer at TheModerateVoice.com that Yemen is a bigger threat than the Afghan – Pakistani border. But I believe Americans, thanks to Bush and Cheney, are tired of committing ground troops when we have the technology.

The question is do we have the will to use our technology against Al Qaeda or are we going to have “crotch pat downs” at our Airports? What’s next our trains and buses also! Just think of the Republican Talking Points that will generate in 2010 and 212!
